Historic Brean



History buffs, walkers and nature enthusiasts will love exploring Brean Down Fort, a historical site located on the headland of Brean Down. The fort was built in the 1860s as part of the Palmerston Forts, a series of coastal defences to protect the ports of Bristol and Cardiff from possible French invasion. It was also used duing WWII for experimental weapon testing. The fort is now owned by The National Trust and is open to the public. Picture credit: Marcus Valance
