Head East: Hyatt Regency Stratford

As a West London girl myself, a trip to Stratford in East London is an eye-opener and a treat. Not only has this area got a fresh energy and style with new openings, events and happenings, it has some fabulous places to stay. I decided to make a night of it and explore the East.

Rising above the hub-bub and buzz of the shops and restaurants of Westfield is the stylish Hyatt Regency London Stratford. The hotel is an oasis of cool urban chic in a bustling area. I arrived on a wet and blustery autumn evening to be whisked up to a serene and elegant reception desk. The girl on the desk clocked that I was hobbling and sorted me a room close to the lift without my having to mention it, an attention to detail that sums up the unobtrusive service of the hotel. My classy room turned out to be a huge, calm space with views over London.

Decorated in attractive neutrals there was a comfortable bed and, my favourite thing, serval really good mirrors. The bathroom with its sophisticated black fittings and super-efficient shower had fragrant toiletries and fluffy bathrobes perfect for an indulgent pampering before heading down for cocktails in the elegant bar.

The Elondi Bar is a vibrant, airy oasis with colourful furnishings which opens out onto the Terrace; a delightful and spacious 538 square foot al-fresco spot. The Elondi Restaurant is also found here, with Sicilian chef Alessandro Femino at the helm, who has created a sophisticated, yet unfussy menu featuring traditional Italian-inspired dishes and British fayre.
